Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to your information when you use this site or get in touch about tutoring. I keep this deliberately simple because I'm a one-person tutoring service, not a big company, and there isn't much to it.

Who I am & how to contact me

I'm Samuel, and I run Samuel Maths, a small online tutoring service for GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics. I'm the person responsible for any information you share with me (the "data controller", in legal terms). If you have any questions about your information, or you'd like me to delete it, you can reach me directly:

What information I collect

There are two ways your information reaches me, and both are limited:

  • What you send me through the enquiry form. When you fill in the contact form on the site, you give me your name, email address, phone number and whatever you write in the message. That's it, and I only ask for what I need to reply and arrange lessons.
  • What's collected automatically. Like most websites, this one uses analytics that records anonymous, aggregated information about visits, things like which pages are viewed and roughly which region a visit came from. This isn't tied to your name and I don't use it to identify individual people.

How I use your information

I use the details you send me for one thing: to reply to your enquiry and arrange and run tutoring sessions. I don't sell your information, I don't pass it to anyone for marketing, and I won't add you to any mailing list. The analytics information I use only to understand which pages are useful and whether my advertising is working, so I can improve the site.

The contact form

The enquiry form is handled by a third-party service called FormSubmit, which takes what you type and forwards it to my email inbox. Your details pass through FormSubmit on the way to me, so their handling of that data is covered by their own privacy policy, which you can read here: FormSubmit privacy policy. If you'd rather not use the form, you're very welcome to email or message me directly using the details above.

Cookies & analytics

This site uses two Google services, both of which set cookies in your browser:

  • Google Analytics (ID G-BSKJWE0SD5) — measures how the site is used, such as which pages are visited, so I can see what's helpful and what isn't. The data is aggregated and not used to identify you personally.
  • Google Ads (ID AW-18264377431) — I advertise on Google, and this lets me see, in aggregate, when an advert leads to an enquiry. It helps me understand whether my ads are worth running.

You can read how Google handles this data in Google's privacy policy. If you'd prefer to opt out, you can:

How long I keep it, and your rights

I keep enquiry messages and contact details only for as long as I need them to help you, and I clear out old enquiries that haven't led to lessons. If you become a tutoring client, I keep what's needed to run our sessions for the duration of our arrangement.

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you have the right to ask what information I hold about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. Just email me and I'll sort it out, usually straight away. If you ever feel I've mishandled your information, you also have the right to complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

If I change anything on this page, I'll update the "last updated" date at the top.
